Hi, I'm new here, and it seems awfully quiet. So, a question. What was the last movie you saw that you thought was truly great, not just an entertaining way to kill a couple of hours, not just fun, but a movie worthy to stand among the greats.

i know this group was inspired by eberts great movies, so i thought i would comment on this.

ebert just listed el norte as a great movies. now ive seen many movies on his list, liked or loved most, thought some were okay, and didnt like others. but el norte is the first movie he has put on the list that i thought was just plain bad

anyone else see this movie?

i just joined this group and i wanted to say hi to everyone. its nice to find a group of people whose favorite movies dont include saving silverman or charlies angels. its nice to find people who actually watch movies made before 1990!!

anyways, i love to watch old movies and do so all the time. Hopefully this will be a good place to post about them. Im currently trying to see all of the IMDB top 250, although i keep getting sidetracked by other great movies

i just saw driving miss daisy. not a classic in the sense of pulp fiction or citizen kane or 2001, but still a wonderful movie. and the best performance ive seen by morgan freedman(yes better than glory and shawshank redemption)

anyways i look forward to posting more on this group page!!

Does anyone know if there are any websites that sell a boxset of the Lone Wolf and Cub movies?

So, yeah, Tarantino.

Whaddaya think of him? Other than that his head, both physically and ego-wise, is far too large, I feel he's a respectable but often over-rated director. It's hard to like a guy's work when college "BEER!!" guys worship the man, but he's made a couple of good movies.

A question... [Jul. 4th, 2004|01:09 pm]

I have a question. Some people believe that "The Blues Brothers" is a classic, great movie, which is hard for a comedy to be sometimes. Some people think of it just as another comedy.
I am a member of the former group of people. I was just wondering what any of you thought about it.
